How to set up Slack notifications for email engagement events

Last updated: April 10, 2026

You can configure Slack notifications to monitor various email engagement events in your platform using Audiences and Plays. This allows your team to stay informed about important email interactions and respond quickly to engagement opportunities or deliverability issues.

Setting up high engagement alerts

To receive notifications when prospects show strong email engagement:

  1. Create a new Audience with conditions for high email engagement (for example, "opened more than 5 times")

  2. Create a Play using this Audience as the trigger

  3. Add a Slack notification action to alert your team when prospects meet the engagement criteria

This setup helps sales development representatives identify highly engaged prospects who may be ready for immediate follow-up outreach.

Configuring bounce notifications

To get notified when email addresses bounce:

  1. Create an Audience with the condition "Email activity Is Bounced = true"

  2. Optionally, use the "Bounced At" field to filter for recent bounces within a specific timeframe

  3. Enable a Slack notification on this Audience so each new bounced prospect triggers an alert

This helps your team quickly identify email deliverability issues and update contact information for bounced prospects.

Additional considerations

Both notification types use the same underlying system of Audiences and Plays, which means you can apply this approach to monitor other email engagement metrics as well. Consider setting up notifications for:

  • Email replies

  • Link clicks

  • Unsubscribes

  • Multiple visits from the same account

By customizing your Audience conditions and Slack notification settings, you can create a comprehensive monitoring system that keeps your team informed about all critical email engagement events.
