Tracking Email Engagement Metrics Across Prospects
Last updated: March 25, 2026
You can track detailed email engagement metrics across your prospect base using built-in email tracking fields. These fields provide comprehensive visibility into how prospects interact with your emails without requiring you to navigate through individual prospect records.
Available Email Tracking Fields
The following fields are available to track email engagement:
First Opened At: Records the timestamp when an email was first opened by the prospect
Last Opened At: Shows the most recent time the email was opened, allowing you to track re-engagement
Is Opened: A boolean field that indicates whether the email has been opened at least once
These fields capture detailed timing and frequency data, enabling you to track when prospects re-open emails over extended periods. For example, you can identify when someone re-opens an email after several days, indicating continued interest.
Creating Engagement-Based Segments
You can leverage these email tracking fields to create targeted prospect segments based on engagement patterns:
Prospects who opened emails within the last 7 days
Prospects who have re-opened emails multiple times
Prospects who haven't opened recent emails (for re-engagement campaigns)
This segmentation capability allows you to set up automated workflows based on re-engagement patterns rather than just initial opens, helping you nurture prospects more effectively based on their actual engagement behavior.
Mapping to Salesforce
These email engagement fields can be mapped to your Salesforce Lead and Contact records, allowing you to:
Sync first and last open dates directly to Salesforce
Track reply dates and engagement history
Extend tracking to the company level for account-based insights
This integration ensures your sales team has complete visibility into prospect engagement directly within their CRM workflow.
