Troubleshooting Salesforce opportunity stage sync issues in Unify

Last updated: February 23, 2026

When opportunity stages appear out of sync between Salesforce and Unify, there are several steps you can take to diagnose and understand the issue.

Verifying sync status

To check if an opportunity is properly synced:

  1. In Unify, locate the opportunity that appears to have incorrect stage information

  2. Click the SFDC icon next to the opportunity

  3. This will open the corresponding opportunity in Salesforce, allowing you to verify the actual stage

Identifying sync discrepancies

If you notice that an opportunity shows one stage in Unify but displays a different stage when you click through to Salesforce, this may indicate:

  • A sync issue between the two systems

  • The presence of duplicate opportunities

  • Recent changes that haven't been reflected yet

Common causes of sync issues

Opportunity name changes: When opportunity names are changed in Salesforce, this can potentially create duplicate opportunities in Unify that display outdated stage information. Be aware that recent name changes might affect stage synchronization accuracy.

Backward stage movements: Opportunities that have been moved backward in stages (for example, from "Identifying Options" back to "Defining Needs") are particularly susceptible to sync issues. These discrepancies can also impact sequence exclusions that are based on opportunity stage.

Cross-referencing for verification

To get a complete picture of your opportunity data:

  1. Search for the account directly in Salesforce

  2. Review all opportunities associated with that account

  3. Compare the stages shown in Salesforce with what appears in Unify

This cross-referencing helps identify discrepancies and ensures you have accurate information about your opportunity stages.
