Troubleshooting sequence save failures and editing issues

Last updated: March 23, 2026

If you're experiencing issues with sequences not saving, reverting changes, or showing "Failed to save draft" errors, here are the most common causes and solutions:

Common causes and solutions

Multiple editors

Make sure no one else is editing the same sequence at the same time. When multiple users edit simultaneously, changes can overwrite each other or cause save failures.

Missing or invalid variables

Check email and task steps for any highlighted or empty variables that need to be filled in.

Browser issues

Try these browser troubleshooting steps:

  • Refresh the page

  • Clear your browser cache

  • Try incognito/private browsing mode

  • Switch to a different browser

Validation errors

Look for "Fix to publish" warnings, unconnected nodes, or missing required fields in your sequence.

Temporary delays

Wait 30-60 seconds and try saving again, as there may be temporary processing delays.

Manual save

Click the settings icon (top right) → Save, then refresh the page to confirm your changes were saved.

What to do if the issue persists

If you've tried the above solutions and are still experiencing problems, please contact support with the following information:

  • Link to the specific sequence you're having trouble with

  • Screen recording showing the full issue (including any error messages)

  • Description of what you were trying to do when the error occurred

This information helps our engineering team identify and resolve the issue much faster.

Note: If you're copying a sequence and trying to delete steps, make sure to save your changes before attempting to publish. Some users have reported that deleted steps reappear if the sequence isn't properly saved first.
