How to enrich existing audiences with phone numbers

You can add phone numbers to audiences that were previously uploaded without phone enrichment by re-uploading the same audience with the enrichment option enabled. This process allows you to enhance your existing data without starting over.

Data Requirements

Before starting the enrichment process, ensure your CSV contains these required fields:

  • First Name

  • Last Name

  • Company website

The company website field is critical because data providers use the company domain as a key identifier to match the right person to the right record. First name + last name + email alone can be ambiguous (common names may exist across multiple companies), so the company website helps ensure accurate matching for direct dial or mobile numbers.

Data Preparation Tips

If you don't have all the required fields, here are some workarounds:

  • Missing company websites: Extract the domain from email addresses (e.g., john@acmecorp.com → acmecorp.com) and populate the company website column with that domain

  • Bulk domain extraction: Use AI tools like ChatGPT or Claude to help extract domains from email addresses for the company website field

  • Missing names: If you only have email + company website without first/last names, enrichment will still work, but you won't be able to use first name/last name as variables in your campaigns

Enrichment Process

Follow these steps to add phone numbers to your existing audience:

  1. Export your existing audience from Unify as a CSV

  2. Prepare your CSV with the required fields listed above

  3. Re-upload the same audience CSV file to Unify

  4. During the upload process, select the "enrich phone numbers" option

  5. The system will add phone numbers to the existing contacts (costs 4 credits per phone number)

  6. Export the audience again as CSV to access the newly enriched phone number data

Troubleshooting Low Coverage

If you're seeing lower than expected phone enrichment coverage, check that all contacts have complete name fields populated. Missing or incomplete first name and last name fields can significantly reduce enrichment success rates.

Ensure every record has both first and last names filled in before attempting phone number enrichment for the best results.
