Understanding Unify's People Tab and Prospecting Features
Last updated: April 29, 2026
What does the People tab show?
The People tab displays two types of contacts:
Existing contacts from your CRM
People that Unify has been able to deanonymize from website visits (note: web intent data is revealed at the company level due to GDPR and privacy laws - individual-level web intent is only shown when visitors self-identify through actions like form fills)
How does Unify's prospecting work?
Unify uses a waterfall system to find the best prospects for your campaigns. The system works with a data provider called Waterfall to provide contact information directly.
Prospecting Methods
You have several options for prospecting:
Use Unify Waterfall to Find up-to-date Prospects & Data (Recommended): This is the most effective approach that combines multiple data sources
Use Existing Prospects in Unify: Only uses contacts already in your Unify database
Find New Prospects NOT Existing in Unify: Searches for completely new contacts
How the Waterfall System Works
When using the recommended waterfall approach, Unify follows this order:
First checks for existing contacts in your CRM that match the defined personas
Then checks Unify's own database for previously identified contacts
Finally prospects for net new contacts using the waterfall system
CRM Integration and Matching
Unify uses email addresses to match contacts between the platform and your CRM. The system will:
Check if a person is already part of the company in your CRM
Create a new contact if they don't exist
Handle cases where contact data may be outdated (such as when someone has changed jobs)
Prospecting Limits
You can set a maximum number of prospects per company in your plays. This limit applies across all personas you've specified and includes both existing CRM contacts and newly prospected contacts that will be imported into your CRM.
Using the Chrome Extension
The Unify Chrome extension allows you to prospect directly from company pages and manually add or enrich individual contacts. If a company doesn't exist in Unify yet, you can create a new record by entering the company's web domain (not email domain) to start prospecting.
You can also use the extension to manually add a new person or enrich and add them to Unify without needing to upload a CSV file.
Adding Contacts Manually
If you need to add individual contacts to Unify, you have several options:
Chrome Extension: Use the Unify Chrome extension to manually add a new person or enrich and add them to Unify
CRM Sync: Add the contact directly to your CRM, and Unify will automatically sync it in (note: email address is required for HubSpot contacts)
CSV Upload: Upload contacts via CSV in the People tab, which will create a List (minimum required fields: first name and email address)
Searching for People
To find specific contacts in Unify:
Search by name in the People page
Look up the company name on the Companies page and view contacts in the company drawer
Use the Activity tab within a company to see web history and engagement
