Creating and tracking custom audiences from website activity data
Last updated: March 25, 2026
You can create targeted audiences based on website visitor behavior and activity patterns to identify high-intent prospects and track engagement. Here's how to effectively build and manage these custom audiences.
Creating frequency-ordered visitor reports
To generate ranked lists of companies based on their website engagement:
Use audience filters with website activity criteria (e.g., visits or page views in the last 30 days)
Preview matching companies to see visit patterns before finalizing your audience
Export the audience to CSV for a downloadable frequency-ranked list
In the Companies view, sort by 'Last Website Activity' to see visit recency
Excluding internal and partner traffic
To focus on genuine prospect activity, exclude internal and partner domains from your audiences:
Add domain filters to exclude internal domains (e.g., yourcompany.com)
Include partner domain exclusions (e.g., partnercompany.com)
Company exclusions automatically apply to audience views while keeping all companies visible in the main Companies page
Targeting high-intent visitors
Follow these best practices to identify prospects with stronger buying signals:
Prioritize companies visiting multiple pages over single page view visitors
Create audiences targeting companies with multiple page views or visits within a specific timeframe (e.g., last 30 days)
Companies with multiple page views typically indicate higher intent than single page visitors
Page-specific audience targeting
You can create targeted audiences based on specific page visits to tailor your outreach:
Use the Website Activity filter group to filter by specific page URLs
Create separate audiences for high-value pages using "page URL contains" filters:
Pricing pages: "page URL contains /pricing"
Demo pages: "page URL contains /demo"
Blog content: "page URL contains /blog"
Use page-specific audiences as distinct Play triggers with messaging tailored to the content they engaged with
Note: While you can filter audiences by specific pages, you cannot display 'last page visited' as a viewable column in the audience view. To see detailed page-level visit information for individual contacts, drill into the individual People profile.
Exporting and using audience data
Once you've created your custom audiences:
Use the audience export feature to download frequency lists
Preview matching companies when creating audiences to validate your criteria
Export audiences to CSV for use in external campaigns or analysis
