Troubleshooting sequence scheduling and task visibility issues

Last updated: March 23, 2026

If you've enrolled contacts into a sequence but don't see expected tasks (like LinkedIn connections or connection requests) appearing immediately in your task list, this is likely due to delays configured in your sequence steps.

Check for configured delays

To troubleshoot missing or delayed tasks:

  1. Navigate to your sequence

  2. Click Edit to view the sequence configuration

  3. Check if there's a delay configured above the first step or between steps

Look for a "step scheduled" status indicator in the top right of the sequence view. This indicates that tasks are delayed and will appear according to your configured timing. Remember that delays affect when tasks become visible and available to complete, not just when emails are sent.

Important limitation: Sequence version updates

If you modify delays in a sequence after contacts are already enrolled, these changes will only apply to new enrollments. Any contact at or past step 1 of a sequence cannot be upgraded to the newer version.

This limitation is particularly important for contacts uploaded from CSV files, as they start at Step 1 immediately upon enrollment. Once enrollment begins, sequence updates cannot be applied to any of these contacts.

Best practices for sequence timing

To ensure proper delay timing for all contacts:

  • Configure your sequence delays correctly before enrolling contacts

  • Test your sequence timing with a small group first

  • Review all delay settings in the sequence editor before launching

This design prevents drastically changing messaging mid-sequence, but it means delay modifications won't affect existing enrollments. Plan your sequence timing carefully to avoid having to re-enroll contacts into updated sequences.
