How do I add domains, accounts, or websites to the exclusion list?

Last updated: March 25, 2026

You can add domains, accounts, and websites to your exclusion list to prevent outreach to specific contacts or companies. Here's how exclusions work and how to manage them effectively.

Adding Domains to Exclusions

When creating competitor exclusions, you can manually add domains even if the company doesn't appear in your CRM or Unify's interface. For example, you can add a domain like competitor-company.com to your exclusions, and it will effectively block contacts from that domain if they enter your system later.

This is particularly useful for adding competitors that aren't currently in your CRM database but may become relevant in the future.

Understanding Exclusion Limits

There is no documented limit on the number of competitor exclusions you can add to your system. If you experience issues adding more exclusions through the interface, try again after any processing completes, as this may be a temporary interface issue rather than a system limitation.

People Count in Exclusions

When viewing company-level exclusions, you'll see a people count (for example, "84 People"). This number represents the total number of person records associated with the excluded company domains in Unify's database, including:

  • Sourced employees from those companies

  • Contacts already in your CRM from those domains

This is why you see an aggregate people count rather than just a company count when viewing exclusions.

CRM-Based Exclusion Processing

CRM-based exclusions are processed during regular sync cycles, which means there may be a delay between when a change occurs in your CRM and when it's reflected in Unify exclusions.

If you create a new opportunity or update a company record that should trigger an exclusion, allow up to 15 minutes for the system to detect and process the change. The proactive feature works automatically during this cycle - no manual action is required once the toggle is enabled.

Planning for Processing Time

For time-sensitive exclusions, factor in the processing window when planning your sequence timing. If you need immediate exclusion and cannot wait for the automatic system to process the changes, you may need to manually pause contacts until the automatic system catches up.
