How do I create an Audience with multiple countries using OR conditions?

Last updated: April 1, 2026

Context

When creating Audiences, you may want to target multiple countries or regions using OR conditions (for example, targeting both US and Canada). While it might seem like you need to create separate audiences, there's a more efficient way using the exclusion builder.

Answer

You can create an Audience targeting multiple countries by using groups in the exclusion builder. Here's how:

  1. In the Audience builder, navigate to the main criteria section

  2. Click + Add group to create a new group

  3. Set the group logic to AND (groups are connected with AND by default)

  4. Within the group itself, add your location filters and set the logic between them to OR

  5. Add your desired countries within this group - they will have an OR relationship with each other

Alternative Approach: Using Positive Filters

If you want to target only one or a few specific countries (rather than excluding many), use a positive filter instead of multiple exclusions:

  1. In the Audience builder, add a condition: Country is equal to [Your Country]

  2. For multiple countries, add them within the same group with OR logic between them

Tip: If you also rely on phone data, you can combine country filters with phone number filters. For example, to target US contacts, create a group with OR logic containing:

  • Country is equal to United States

  • Mobile Phone starts with +1

Important: The OR logic applies to conditions WITHIN a group, not between groups. If you need to combine multiple countries with OR conditions, add them all within the same group and ensure the within‑group logic is set to OR.

Note: If the OR option appears grayed out, check that you're applying OR logic to multiple values within a single group rather than trying to apply it between separate groups.
