Connecting Clearbit and 6Sense API keys

Last updated: May 5, 2026

How are credits being used up if I've connected my Clearbit and/or 6Sense API keys? What's the difference between connecting those API keys vs. just using Unify intent?

If you have only connected your Clearbit (here) and/or 6Sense (here) API keys, no Unify credits will be spent on revealing your website visitors. Instead, we will use your connected API keys to de-anonymize website traffic.

If you have connected either of these API keys and enabled Unify intent, we will first leverage your connected Clearbit / 6Sense instance to de-anonymize website traffic. If the website visitor is de-anonymized by Clearbit or 6Sense, no Unify credits will be incurred. If we are unable to de-anonymize the website visitor using Clearbit or 6Sense, we will then use Unify Intent. If Unify Intent is able to successfully identify the website visitor, 0.1 Unify credit will be used per visitor session. Note that the same person visiting multiple times will consume 0.1 credits for each session they can be identified.

Should I purchase these separate API keys?

It is not required to purchase the 6Sense or Clearbit API keys - we would still be able to de-anonymize website traffic through Unify Intent. It is common to connect these API keys if you had them available prior to purchasing Unify. If you decide to connect your API keys, you will need to manage your credit usage directly in the 6Sense or Clearbit platforms.

How can I optimize credit usage?

To manage credit consumption effectively, consider these strategies:

  • Place the Unify tracking tag only on high-intent pages (pricing, product pages, demo requests) rather than globally across your entire site

  • Remove the tag from product/app/login pages to avoid consuming credits on existing customer logins

  • Use audience filters (company size, industry, etc.) to qualify traffic and focus reveals on your target segments

  • Toggle off "Unify Reveal" by going to Settings → Web & Product Data → Settings → "Unify Reveal" toggle if you need to pause credit usage

  • When resuming Website Reveal after pausing, ensure the "Web & Product Data" setting is enabled under Settings → Web & Product Data to allow company de-anonymization to function properly

These optimization strategies apply whether you're using Unify Intent alone or in combination with Clearbit/6Sense API keys.
