Working your Book of Business

Last updated: October 8, 2026

What you'll get: a single, always-current list of every account that's yours. No manual setup, no digging through your CRM to remember what you own.

You don't need to set anything up

Once your manager configures your team's Rules of Engagement policy, your Book of Business populates automatically from your CRM. There's nothing for you to build or maintain.

What's in your book

Every account currently assigned to you. If your team has Book Rankings and Intel turned on, you'll also see accounts prioritized by signals like fit, timing, and history, plus auto-generated research on your top accounts. If you're only seeing a plain list today, those features just haven't reached your team yet; check with your manager.

How to claim an open account

Nothing special, just work it:

  1. Find an open (unowned), eligible account.
  2. Send an email, make a call, or enroll it in a sequence.
  3. That's it. Unify claims it for you the moment you act, writes the new ownership back to your CRM, and it's now in your Book of Business.

Claiming is first-come, first-served: whoever takes the first real, logged action on an open account gets it. Just researching a company never claims it.

If an account is already claimed, that's policy, not a bug

Opening an account and finding a teammate's name on it, or hitting a block, means Unify is correctly enforcing the policy your manager set up, using real ownership data from your CRM. It's expected behavior, not an error.

Don't work around a block. If you think an account should be yours, talk to your manager. They can see the full ownership history and fix it if something's actually wrong.

One exception: if an account was just reassigned to you and still shows blocked, give it 10 to 15 minutes. It may just be a CRM sync delay. Still wrong after that? Now it's worth reporting.

A tip for building lists in Chat

Chat won't automatically filter a prospecting list down to only the accounts you're eligible to engage. It'll show you which ones are, but you may still get some you can't act on. Be specific in your ask (for example, "give me 50 people I'm eligible to engage") to get a cleaner list back.
